At least 14 positive COVID-19 cases have been linked to Fairfield Ludlowe High School students who attended gatherings, the district announced this week.
The number had been at 11 through the weekend, but Schools Superintendent Mike Cummings said that there were three new cases that were identified among students already in quarantine.
The announcement comes on the heels of the district being forced to close the building for two days last week to sanitize and disinfect following an initial outbreak of four cases.
Following a day off for Yom Kippur on Monday, the school is expected to resume its hybrid learning model on Tuesday, Sept. 29, though any student or staff member who tested positive or was in close contact with an infected student will remain home in mandatory quarantine.
Three more positive COVID-19 cases have also been linked to Fairfield Prep.
According to First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick, more than 80 people who came into close contact with the infected students, including family and classmates, have been instructed to enter quarantine as a precaution.
“As we prepare to reopen FLHS to students and staff on Tuesday, please remember that if you are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, your child should stay home until any test results have been confirmed,” Cummings wrote in a letter to parents. “We are all responsible for helping to keep each other safe.”
Contact tracing is ongoing, and the number of people being asked to quarantine could increase. Check Daily Voice for updates.
